Common questions
Getting started and KYC
Complete your profile, add at least one service, and pass identity verification through Youverify. VARS never stores your raw ID, only the verification result.
Going online
Toggle online from your Jobs tab once your KYC is verified, you have a service listed, and notifications are on. You'll start receiving bookings right away.
Accepting bookings
You have one hour to accept a request. No response and it expires automatically, no penalty either way.
Auto-accept zones
Set a zone where matching bookings confirm instantly, no manual review. You get a 5-minute grace window to cancel penalty-free if you need to.
Keeping your zone active
Your zone centre is checked daily against your live location. If it drifts too far, auto-accept pauses until you confirm your new zone. You can always find and confirm your zone from your vendor settings.
Earnings and when you're paid
You keep 80% of every booking, paid out once the service is confirmed complete: either the customer confirms, or 2 hours pass automatically. Pioneers keep 100% on their first 3 bookings.
The Pioneer Programme
The first 50 verified stylists kept 100% of their first 3 bookings, permanently locked in. That cohort is now filled, new stylists join under the standard 80/20 split from their first booking.
Cancelling a booking
Cancelling an auto-accepted booking within its grace window is penalty-free. Outside that, cancellations are tracked on your record. Once payment has been taken, cancelling refunds the customer in full from VARS and restricts your account, all app functionality blocked, until you've settled up and admin lifts it.
Your schedule
Block off slots you're not available for in 30-minute blocks. Anything you don't block stays open for bookings.
Transport buffers
Each booking includes buffer time around it so back-to-back jobs account for your travel, not just the service itself.
How VARS uses your location
Your zone centre sets what's nearby for discovery. Once you're online, your live location updates in real time so customers can track you during a job.
Suggesting a new time
Can't make a pending booking's time? Suggest a different one instead of cancelling, from the booking screen. The customer has an hour to accept or decline. No response in that window and the suggestion simply expires, your original booking request carries on.
Using session photos on your portfolio
Want to add a photo from a session to your portfolio? Request consent from the booking, the customer approves or declines from their end. No response means no photo, but it never blocks anything else on the booking.
Raising a dispute
Raise one from the booking screen any time before the 2-hour auto-release window closes. A VARS admin reviews it, usually within 24 hours, and a refund follows if it's warranted.
How stylists are verified
Every stylist passes identity and biometric liveness verification through Youverify before they can go live. Their profile photo is the same face that passed verification, by design.
Transport surcharge
Bookings more than 5km from a stylist's zone centre add a transport surcharge, currently ₦4,000 to ₦15,000 depending on distance, calculated automatically at booking. The exact amount is shown before you confirm. No hidden charges beyond that.
If a payment doesn't go through
If the charge fails when the stylist sets off, the customer gets a short window to retry with a different card. If it's not resolved in that window, the booking cancels automatically, no charge, and both sides are notified.
